Privacy notice

This notice explains how Faroleta, a trading name of Newman & Kin LLC, handles personal data. Most of it is about the businesses we email; the last two sections cover people who write to us and visitors to this website.
Who we are
Faroleta is a trading name of Newman & Kin LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA. Newman & Kin LLC is the controller of the personal data described here.

Where we got your details
We find businesses in public sources only: open places data, public business registers (such as Companies House in the UK), business listings, the press and other public web pages, and the business’s own website, read as any visitor would.
A work email address comes from one of: the business’s website; a public register of company officers, a press article or another public web page that names the person, with the address in the company’s usual email format (only in countries where that is allowed, and only one verified address per person); a business contact directory; or a colleague who suggested we get in touch. Reply “privacy” to any email from us and we tell you which it was for you.
Where the law requires it (for example in Australia), we only use addresses your business has published, and we keep a record of where each was published.
What we keep
Your name, job title, work email address and the business you work for; where we found them and when; whether the address could be verified; the emails we sent you and your replies.
We do not use tracking pixels or click tracking, and we never buy lists.
Why, and on what basis
To send your business one relevant email about a service it may want, with at most one follow-up, and to answer if you reply. We never pitch a business twice.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: offering a relevant service to businesses like yours. We balance it against your interests by writing only to work addresses, at most twice, with no tracking, and by stopping the moment you ask.
Your rights
You can object to our emails at any time, and we will stop: reply “no thanks” to any email from us (or use your email client’s unsubscribe button, where it shows one). You can also ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it or restrict its use.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) (https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/).

How long we keep it
We keep your details only while we may write to you (one email and at most one follow-up) and while a conversation you started continues; we then delete those we no longer need.
If you opt out or ask us to delete your data, we keep only your email address (or your company’s domain, if you ask us to stop emailing the whole company) on a do-not-contact list, so that we never email you again. We also keep a record that your business was contacted, without your name, so it is never pitched twice.
Who processes it for us
Service providers that work for us under contract: our email sending platform (Smartlead) and mailbox providers (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Infraforge, Primeforge); email verification services; a contact directory service; a web search service (Brave); AI services that help draft and check our emails and look up public information about businesses (Anthropic, TypeSafe); and our hosting and storage providers. We do not sell your data.
Newman & Kin LLC is a US company, so your details are processed in the United States, and some of these providers process them in other countries, under their contractual safeguards.

If you write to us
If you email tom@faroleta.com or reply to one of our emails, we keep your message, your email address and our replies so we can answer you. We keep a conversation for up to two years after we last spoke, then delete it. We do not sell or share it.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no scripts, analytics or trackers.
It is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads, as any web host does.
Links that start an email, such as the one to tom@faroleta.com, open your own email app. Nothing is sent to us until you send it.
